This week I had a studio visit with a new professor in the Art Department. Having an initial studio visit with someone who has not yet seen your work is always extremely insightful and helpful! and also made me think about our readings this week. Anna was able to look at all my work and begin to make her own connections about what she sees in it. These connections are often based on an artist/viewers own work, personal history, artistic history, knowledge of other artists and work of art. Because we all see things differently, it is so important to have these discussions. So many times, someone else will see something in your work that you were never able to see yourself, because of your own experiences and bias. Even though we look at the same piece, our opinion and feelings about it can be completely different!
